Safety routines
Shade, water and the heat
Every outdoor block is in the morning, with shade close by. Water is on every table, and we pause for a drink between blocks, and more often when the day is hot.
Hats and sunscreen
Send your camper in a hat with a brim and with sunscreen already on. We stop for a sunscreen break in the afternoon, and a counselor reminds each camper.
The water hour
The water hour is at the city pool next to the rec hall, with a lifeguard on the deck and counselors in the water. Each age group goes in on its own, and campers who need a life jacket wear one.
Hot, windy and stormy days
When the afternoon is too hot, or the wind kicks up dust, or a storm rolls in, activities move into the rec hall. We text and message families before camp starts, and again if the plan changes during the day.
Sign-in and pickup
An adult on your list signs your camper in and out at the door, and we ask for ID until we know you.
Allergies, medicine and illness
Tell us about allergies and medicine at registration, and we ask what we need privately. A camper with a fever stays home. If a camper feels ill at camp, we call you, and a counselor stays with them until you arrive.
