Family policies for camp days

How we handle photos, clothing, sun and water, pickup, illness, meals, heat and storm days and phones.

Photos of your child

We ask your written permission before we share any photo of your child, on this site, in newsletters or on social media, and you can change your answer at any time. We never put a child's name with a photo, and the photos on this site are examples until we replace them with our own.

What to wear and bring

Send your camper in clothes that can get dirty, closed-toe shoes, a hat with a brim and sunscreen already on. Pack a swimsuit and towel in a bag, and label everything with your camper's first name.

Sun and water

The water hour is at the city pool next to the rec hall, with a lifeguard on the deck and counselors in the water. Each age group goes in on its own, and campers who need a life jacket wear one. Tell us at registration how your camper feels about water. Sunscreen goes on at home, and again at the afternoon break.

Drop-off and pickup

Camp opens at 8:00 a.m. on the rec hall patio, and pickup is at 3:00 p.m. at the door. An adult on your list signs your camper in and out, and we ask for ID until we know you. Tell us ahead of time when someone new is coming.

When to keep your child home

A camper with a fever, vomiting or a rash stays home until it has passed for a full day. If a camper feels ill at camp, we call you, and a counselor stays with them until you arrive.

Meals, snacks and allergies

Lunch comes from home, in a cold pack. We give a snack in the morning and in the afternoon, and tell you what it is ahead of time. Tell us about allergies when you register, and we do not share food between campers.

Closures for weather and holidays

On a day too hot or stormy to be outside, we move activities into the rec hall, and we message families to say so. If camp must close for the day, we message and call everyone as early as we can.

Screens and phones

Phones and tablets stay at home. If your camper needs one for a medical reason, tell us, and we will plan it with you. You can reach the camp by phone during the day.
